Sir Stirling Moss recently took possession of his belated Gold Cup ....
Joyce & Leon Gibbs proud owners of the Sunbeam Alpine MKV 21 driven to victory by Sir Stirling Moss in 1954, commissioned Coventry Silvercraft to produce an exact replica of 'The Alpine Gold Cup' which was awarded to Stirling for completing three consecutive unpenalised Alpine Rallies in 1952, 1953 and 1954. There has only ever been one other Gold Cup awarded and this was to Ian Appleyard driving a Jaguar XK120 NUB120.
Joyce & Leon were invited to attend the Celebrations for Sir Stirling's 80th Birthday at Goodwood in September, 2009, where they were able to present the Cup to Sir Stirling Moss who was delighted to receive it and said afterwards " one thing I can tell you for sure is that the replica means just as much, if not more than the original. It is such a fabulous present".
Also commissioned were replicas of three large Silver Cups won by Stirling at the 15th, 16th and 17th International Rally of the Alps again in 1952, 1953 and 1954.
